Happy New Year!
New Year's Eve is a funny holiday, it can be especially anti-climatic for us parents. As a teenager, I remember babysitting all the neighborhood kids so the adults could have their annual celebration (it was the most prosperous night of the year for me!) I guess I thought back then that when I grew up, I would party all night with the adults on New Year's Eve...not quite. Before we had Harrison, we really lived it up by trekking to see Grandma and Grandpa at the Lawrence Welk Resort to play Skipbo with Grandma and eat cheese and crackers and chocolate covered popcorn until they got tired at about 10, then heading home to watch the ball drop. Now that Harrison is with us and we have a bedtime schedule to stick to, our New Year's Eve's have been spent at home.
This year we decided to spice it up a bit! At Legoland midnight occurs at 6:00 pm and we were there to ring in 2011! SO FUN! Harrison loved it, we listened to Justin Roberts and the Not Ready for Naptime players, watched the "brick" drop (of course Ryan had to insert a comment here about already dropping a brick that day), and watched an awesome fireworks show. We were done in time for a fun dinner out and then home to put Harrison down and spend a nice relaxing night together.
It was seriously perfect and I think it may become a New Years tradition! ...Until we grow up and have a desire to party all night with the adults : )
